Dan Knox

Managing Director/Board Member 

Mr. Knox is the founder and Director of GSM Systems, with over 12 years experience in the telecom equipment business. Mr. Knox has successfully driven operational execution of contracts for maintenance, support and expansion of telecom networks in some of the world’s most challenging emerging markets. He has led GSM Systems’ expansion across 3 continents, with a focus on operational execution and customer experience. He is a graduate of the University of Leeds, speaks fluent French and Spanish and is a member of Vistage and Young President’s Organization.


Chris Carey Sr.

Board Member

Carey is a graduate of Princeton University, where he majored in architecture and engineering. His first job was with a technology services firm— Mr. Carey has a 30-year track record as an entrepreneur and CEO. Mr. Carey was CEO of Datatec Systems, Inc., a technology services company which had $500,000 in revenues when he completed an MBO at 23 years of age. Over the span of 25 years, he built Datatec into one of North America’s largest independent systems implementation firms, and took the company public with $100 million in revenues and 750 employees in the U.S. and Canada. Mr. Carey is a member of the World Presidents’ Organization, the Chief Executives Organization, and past chapter chairman of the Young Presidents’ Organization. As a thought leader in business leadership, he is regularly published in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, and Inc—and is a frequent speaker at industry and business conferences. Mr. Carey is actively engaged in guiding GSM Systems senior leadership team.


Christophe Petit

Board Member

Christophe is the President of Star America Infrastructure Partners, the fund management affiliate of Star America Group. Christophe joined Star America from Greenhill & Co., an independent M&A boutique, where he specialized in the origination, structuring, negotiation and closing of infrastructure financing transactions in the Americas. During the course of his 15 year banking career, Christophe has worked on infrastructure and P3 advisory engagements totaling over $50bn.

Prior to joining Greenhill, Christophe was a Director in the Infrastructure and Structured Finance team of Société Générale. Previously, Christophe worked with Dexia Crédit Local and in the infrastructure financing department of the International Finance Corporation (IFC – the private arm of the World Bank group) in Washington, D.C. During his time at the World Bank, Christophe worked on many transport transactions in several countries such as Mexico, Mozambique, Chile, Peru, Brazil, and China. Mr. Petit holds a Masters in Telecom engineering from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications de Paris. His experience in structuring major international infrastructure sales & acquisitions, in addition to his foundation in telecom engineering, gives him background & knowledge to guide GSM Systems growth and strategy.


Fredrick (Ricky) Knox

Director and Founder, Small World Financial Services

Chairman, GSM Systems Board

Mr. Knox has been involved in GSM Systems since its founding in 2003, and is a director and founder of Small World Financial Services Group Ltd, now Europe’s largest independent Money Transfer operator and one of the three companies he has founded and built up since completing his MBA. Ricky’s career has been spent in Entrepreneurship and Private Equity, having worked at MMC Ventures backing early stage high growth companies. Clarity FX was a foreign exchange advisory firm focused on saving money for large multi-nationals, which he sold in 2005. Mr Knox is a graduate of Bristol University, UK and hold an MBA from INSEAD. Mr. Knox focuses on financial governance and oversight of GSM Systems operations while advising senior management on organizational development and strategy.
